The Five Star Wealth Manager Award

The Five Star Wealth Management Award is a prestigious designation given to wealth managers that meet 10 objective criteria. The criteria include:

  1. Being credentialed as an investment advisory representative or a registered investment advisor.
  2. Being actively employed as a credentialed professional in the financial services industry for a minimum of five years.
  3. Having a favorable and regulatory and complaint history review.
  4. Having fulfilled their firm review based on internal firm standards.
  5. Be accepting new clients.
  6. Having a one-year client retention rate
  7. Having a five-year client retention rate.
  8. Considering non-institutional discretionary and/or non-discretionary client assets administered.
  9. Considering the number of client households served.
  10. Considering education and professional designation.

David has won this selective award for 7 years (every year the award was given in Hawaii): 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 , 2016, 2017 and 2019.*

Certified Wealth Strategist®

David is among an elite group of wealth advisors obtaining the Certified Wealth Strategist® designation, administered by Cannon Financial Institute. This designation is awarded to those individuals completing a comprehensive program of study surrounding key wealth management issues facing clients today.

Obtaining the Certified Wealth Strategist® designation provides financial services professionals with the technical knowledge, practice management processes and the client communication skills needed to create and build a client centric wealth advisory practice.  The primary goal of the Certified Wealth Strategist® practice is to work as an effective partner for their clients with more complex wealth issues. 

DAVID M. SHIMANA EARNS ACCREDITED INVESTMENT FIDUCIARY® DESIGNATION FROM Fi360

October 27, 2021, David M. Shimana has been awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) Designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies®, the standards-setting body for Fi360, a Broadridge company. The AIF® Designation signifies specialized knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care. The designation is the culmination of a rigorous training program, which includes a comprehensive, closed-book final examination under the supervision of a proctor, and agreement to abide by the Center’s Code of Ethics and Conduct Standards. On an ongoing basis, completion of continuing education and adherence to the Code of Ethics and Conduct Standards are required to maintain the AIF® Designation.
